Air filter for motorcycles - Maintenance
There are two types of washable air filters: K&N filters and air filters made of foam, which are usually used on dirt bikes.
Both air filters must be regularly maintained with products specifically designed for this purpose. Maintenance is essentially simple and consists of two steps.
- Thoroughly clean the filter
- When dry, re-oil the filter
It is difficult to give an exact indication of the maintenance interval. Much depends on the motorcycle and what you do with it. A foam filter on a dirt bike will certainly require a shorter servicing interval than a K&N filter on a motorway-only bike.
