The Evans ST 2.0 is the logical successor to the Evans ST. Which was actually a watertight evolution of the Evans ‘without ST’. We like evolution, it usually leads to improvement. As it does here.
The Evans ST 2.0 is a waterproof all-rounder, a 2-in-1 textile motorcycle jacket with removable thermal lining and an integrated solto-TEX® (notice the ‘ST’) two-layer Z-liner membrane with breathing capacities. Price/quality-wise, this is an excellent choice.
What you see and feel is officially called 600D polyester: textile with wear-and tear-resistant properties, guaranteeing a first protective layer while riding. For every type of motorbike? Well, actually, yes, even though the touring cut – a little longer and centred – shows a preference that doesn’t look out of place considering the all-round application possibilities of this motorcycle jacket.
The non-removable, waterproof solto-TEX®-membrane has breathing capacities. Breathable and ventilated are no synonyms, though. For that reason, IXS provided two vent openings above the chest pockets. With a little goodwill (and little to carry), the latter can be considered an addition to that. However, this is still more ‘breathing’ than ‘ventilated’: the air system, with two more air outlets in the back will bring relief and aeriation but it won’t be able to drop Southern European summer temperatures to agreeable limits.
Compared to previous Evans versions, this Evans ST 2.0 is a little more stylised, a little bit more black and a little more timeless. The dark reflective elements make it look a little less conspicuous. What was good, was kept. The numerous adjustment options around the arms, waist (centring belt), wrists and at the bottom of the jacket ensure an optimum fit. The four outer pockets can be closed off properly and provide a lot of storage space. You can carry something inside the jacket as well as inside the thermal lining, thanks to two inner pockets and a Napoleon pocket.
The jacket has been equipped with CE-approved impacTec ETP-02-protectors at the elbows and shoulders.
The Evans ST 2.0 can be combined perfectly with the IXS Tallinn 2.0 (also an update) and is therefore equipped with a long connecting zipper.
All in all, this is a very versatile jacket for daily use. At a very sharp price.
