The Desert Air-motorcycle gloves by IXS are summery motorcycle gloves that – contrary to what their name might suggest – feel more comfortable during touring trips than in the actual desert.
Well-ventilated leather and comfort, this is rarely a bad combination. They combine almost perfectly in the Desert Air, which brings ‘touring’ a lot closer. Here and there, we read ‘enduro’ but these motorcycle gloves are not really tough guys: light padding, flexible leather, a soft knuckle protector, padding above hard TPU… Civilisation clearly wins over wasteland.
No biggie. The goatskin on the back of the hand is largely ventilated and double-layered on the palm. Between those leather layers: padding where needed and where useful. Also on the little finger, by the way. Add the integrated Impacton® knuckle protector and the double TPU-inserts on the ring and middle finger and this equals to a surprisingly large number of protection.
Despite that, the Desert Air is still a light motorcycle glove. Stretch panels around the thumb, the index finger, middle finger and at the cuff amplify that feeling. Neoprene adds another layer.
The feel is light, the impression is light, the reality is good protection. The short cuff is fastened with a Velcro strip and it should be no surprise that you can keep these EN13594:201-certified motorbike gloves on to operate touchscreens.
