For that price you can't go wrong, our grandmother used to say, and then you knew it was alright. You can add the West-Flemish accent and the 1980's yourself, but it's not a requirement. With the Taylor Lady, Germas delivers a motorcycle jacket that says: for that price, you can't afford to be stupid.
Lady? Yes indeed: this women's version of the touring jacket is specifically feminine, yet just that little bit tighter and more anatomically correct than would be the case if you would simply copy-paste the men's version.
The versatile and waterproof Taylor Lady motorcycle jacket has just as much touring ambition and we can't really argue with that. The outer shell is made from 600D 'Germadura', which is the company's own answer to other, similar, hard-wearing materials. More than okay, and that goes for the removable thermal lining as well. There is an integrated waterproof membrane between these two materials and then you know that there are many motorcycle days to be ticked off. Maybe not the hottest, and that's due to the AirVent system with vents at the front and the back. Well, high summer will probably be too much of a good thing, but then we think of grandma’s words.
Also because Germas - you can also call it GMS - doesn't really make any mistakes. The word 'budget' could still be mentioned, but even then it is mainly in a positive sense. The Taylor Lady has the typical, slightly longer touring cut, complemented with a centering strap. The central zipper with cover flap, velcro and sturdy snaps inspires confidence and the adjustment options on the upper arm (velcro) are sufficient.
Winner's CE-certified elbow and shoulder protectors are flexible and lightweight for comfort. A back protector can be fitted by the rider. On the outside everything is pretty inconspicuous but don't be mistaken: there is quite some reflection material present.
The storage space is sufficient, as long as you don't want to carry a first aid kit and extra batteries for your extra satellite phone: a large storage pocket on the lower back, two front pockets, two inner pockets in the thermo lining and another one in the jacket itself.
A sharp price has to pay off somewhere, so let's be honest: there are concessions made of course. On the other hand, the question is whether you as a motorcyclist really need those seven layers of deep-sea diving gear and sixteen pockets to commute to work in the morning. It's a choice everyone has to make for themselves.
We can say, though, that in the case of this Taylor Lady, the price and quality remain in good proportion. And then you can't go wrong.
