The Energyca is probably called that because it radiates a lot of energy. The lines, but also the way it reminds you of a sporty racing boot. At least half of one. And they are much more accessible, these motorcycle shoes.
More usable, they are called. You put them on and take them off when you feel like it. Without having to check the weather forecast first.
Let's start with the most important feature: waterproofing. Hence the 'D-WP™' in the name. DAINESE Waterproof. Specifically, it's an integrated membrane under the cowhide leather exterior of this ankle-high motorcycle shoe. Is it 100% flawless? It’s still an ankle-high motorcycle shoe: a quick ride on the highway during a heavy downpour and you know how a stocking in a washing machine would feel. So, no. But look at the way the shaft connects to your Achilles tendon, and the attention DAINESE gives to that, and you know a lot of attention went to the design and finish. On the outside and on the inside.
The reinforced toe and heel, and the protection for the ankles, is obvious for a motorcycle shoe of this caliber. Hard TPU on the outside of the heel, and a slightly softer variation on the same theme where the toe would normally be located, underline the fact that the Energyca D-WP™ was not just given shape and content in between a few other works.
The inconspicuous shifting reinforcement and the reflective stripes at the back almost disappear in the line pattern that once again emphasizes the sporty roots. You open and close the shoe with laces. The velcro strap is used to safely hide the laces.
The CE-certification (Cat. II - EN 13634) is a logical consequence of the smart construction and fine detailing of these ankle-high (and therefore perfectly legal) motorcycle shoes.
The higher the fashion level - and the level of ‘we don’t really look like motorcycle shoes’-, the smaller the chance your leather shoes have a full-fledged shifting reinforcement. No problem on a scooter but on a motorbike, the multitude of shifting will quickly cause wear and tear. A shame of the leather shoes because this “wear and tear” will not often be incorporated in the warranty conditions.
You’d better take precautions, give yourself a hand or a foot in this case and add an extra layer to your leather motorcycle shoe or your gear lever. There are a number of options available in our range.
