With the Lorin ST IXS markets a waterproof touring jacket that stands out in terms of price/quality. This 2-in-1 comes with numerous assets and if possible even more ambitions that can serve many purposes.
As a daily commuter, Sunday companion or travel partner you can rely on the Lorin ST. Lorin means 'laurel leaf' and with a little goodwill you can consider this to be the ‘spice’ when you are on the road with it.
The exterior of the IXS Lorin ST consists of 450D polyester, an abrasion- and wear-resistant textile that you can count on in case of need. In it and underneath is the non-removable, yet waterproof solto-TEX® two-layer Z liner membrane, quite a mouthful for what is IXS' favorite breathable membrane. The outer jacket also gets a breathable mesh lining with water barrier, which guarantees a pleasant indoor climate. Especially because the 'air-system' contains no less than six ventilation openings with zippers. If you get cold, the removable thermo lining certainly offers a solution.
The Lorin ST is a touring jacket with the typical cut: longer than the short and sporty jackets from the racing scene, but without reaching too noticeably towards the thighs. This is a jacket that suits a sitting position, on the road on the bike, where it always looks its best. The back - with a large storage compartment - is lower than the front - two large pockets with velcro - the lower back remains covered without a bulging front. Again, for that seated position on the motorcycle.
The symbolic boundary between the touring cut and the top of the Lorin ST consists of a centering velcro strap on each flank. It is just one of the adjustment options available on the Lorin ST. The drawstring is still somewhat concealed, the double velcro straps on the lower and upper arms are easy and quick to operate. Velcro plays a relatively large role anyway, because the collar and sleeve ends are also equipped with it.
Although the two long zippers on the chest only serve as excellent ventilation channels, you're not short on storage space. We already mentioned the two pockets on the outside, as well as the place on the lower back. Inside, that's complemented by two pockets in the actual, outer jacket. The thermal lining is designed in such a way that both inner pockets remain accessible, even with the lining. A zippered napoleon pocket completes the available storage space.
In the 'safety' department, attention goes to the CE-certified impacTec ETP-02 shoulder and elbow protectors. The latter are adjustable in height. By the way, forget about shells or hard, rigid plates from days gone by: this is flexible and moveable. The silver-colored reflective strips are an added value in terms of visibility in poor conditions, and we definitely want to mention the soft finish in the collar.
There is maintenance clothing and then there is clothing maintenance. Good, solid motorcycle clothing is an investment in comfort and personal safety. So invest in its maintenance after your purchase and enjoy your gear for longer.
