This clearly very sports-inspired full-face helmet is an aerodynamic masterpiece. Tested in the wind tunnel and provided with a lot of contemporary comfort, you can get somewhere with this helmet. And fast too.
The K1 has a helmet shell in High Resistance Thermoplastic: words that inspire confidence when used in a helmet material. With two helmet shells to accommodate all helmet sizes, AGV keeps the weight of the K1 around 1500 grams. Not even that heavy for a motorcycle helmet with impressive aerodynamic spoiler and lots of sporting ambitions.
AGV - active for 70 years and for almost 25 years motorcycle helmet supplier to Valentino Rossi - tries to go further than many other helmet manufacturers. Especially from a safety perspective and with a tradition in racing, they like to go beyond the standard. This is also the case with the K1. The collarbone safe profile is particularly noteworthy in this respect, with the shape of the helmet at the bottom preventing you from breaking your own collarbone in the event of a crash. The same profile (with two support points and a bow in the middle) makes a helmet donut no unnecessary luxury.
With five vents at the front, two on the chin and three at forehead level, you won't hear anyone complain about ventilation. At the back two outlets in the spoiler guide the wind back out. All vents can be operated of course. To open the double chin vents, you use the little lever on the inside of the chin guard. You'll find it at the bottom, at the front, where the wind seal leaves a small opening to slide your finger through. It's great when you suddenly discover how ingeniously something has been put together.
Special attention went to the visor. Anti-scratch, with a patented Extra Microlock System and a Micro-opening system - where you can be sure of a small slot at the front - a lot has been thought of. ‘Ultravision' is also a point of interest in every AGV motorcycle helmet: 190° horizontally and 85° vertically, those are the coordinates that should best fit your field of vision, according to the Italians. Good for a wide view on the road, curves and possible obstacles. Experience teaches us that it is mainly the speed of information processing, in addition to a good viewing technique in the less professional circles that makes the difference, although it certainly can't hurt.
The wind deflector on the nose is not too high but does its job. You remove it without a problem and the same goes for the wind curtain under your chin. The interior of the K1 is just as easy to change, remove and wash. The interior consists of Dry-comfort, which feels pleasant and good.
A communication system can be fitted easily. The fastener is a Double-D ring, still the best guarantee of safety and compulsory on the race track for a reason.
For maintenance of this helmet we recommend S100 helmet and visor cleaner for the outside. To clean the interior, without removing it, you can use S100 helmet interior cleaner. New visors have received a water-repellent treatment. This treatment is less effective after some time. Restore the water-repellent effect with Rain-X anti-rain spray.
Safety above all! Never ride with a scratched or dull visor. Especially at night, scratches or dullness cause blinding reflections from streetlights and headlights of oncoming vehicles. This effect is even more pronounced in rainy weather. It is best to replace a scratched or dull visor as soon as possible. Planning a longer trip? Then don't forget to take a replacement visor with you. Never ride in the dark with a tinted visor.
