The Safari 3 is a more price-friendly cousin of the Sand 3. While it shares the same genes, it's a little simpler and less adventurous. But that still makes it perfect for the everyday user who doesn't necessarily seek out the greatest extremes.
And let's be clear: with 'extremes' we do mean motorcycle rides through the Sahara that you would like to film with a shoulder mounted camera, next to your neck brace. For the rest, just about anything goes, in all seasons.
The Safari 3 is related to the Sand 3 in terms of cut alone - it's one of the longest in the REV'IT range. REV'IT likes its jackets short and sleek, and has an aversion to bulging. The back of the jacket is a fraction longer, to avoid a bare back on the bike.
The exterior of the Safari 3 consists of polyester ripstop and polyester 600D, which guarantees a very durable jacket. A non-removable, waterproof and breathable Hydratex® | G-liner membrane means you can take it out between 21 March and 21 December. If you want to survive the winter months as well, you can take advantage of the removable thermal lining. If you're prone to global warming at other times, two large VCS zippers on the chest will allow for some much-needed ventilation.
REV'IT likes its garments short and tight, and because every body is different, the Dutch manufacturer provides plenty of individual adjustment options. In the case of the Safari 3, these include centering straps that can be adjusted to your body size, velcro strips at the sleeve ends and waist, snaps on the upper arms, and a highly convenient 'flexi-snap' at the collar. All these things together should allow you to wear this jacket perfectly tailored to your needs.
If you're on the road all year round, you'll obviously want to take some things with you. Two large pockets in the front and a padded one in the back (all velcro-accessible) create possibilities. An inner pocket in both the jacket and the thermal lining complete that.
And then the best is yet to come. Safari 3 has some sacrifices over its adventurous cousin, but in terms of impact protection the two keep pace. Safari 3 features award-winning SEEFLEX™ CE-level 2 protectors on the elbows and shoulders and the option to upgrade with a SEESOFT™ CE-level 2 back protector. A laminated, reflective logo in the back serves to improve visibility at night and during the day.
Those who want to feel even safer can opt for a Connector HV vest. The Safari 3 is equipped to make it easy and safe to put on. The short connection zipper also makes it possible to combine with the right pants. In this case the Factor 4 is the obvious choice.
