Motorcycles and cars are getting bigger, but the available parking space remains the same. If you want to park your motorcycle or scooter indoors, you'll either have to be very good at manoeuvring, or expand your garage. But now there is an alternative. This sturdy parking aid makes manoeuvring indoors a lot easier. No more sweating, dragging, sliding and lifting when you want to park the bike as close to the wall as possible at the end of the shed.
Attention - part 1: to make sure everything goes safely, there are a number of conditions. Keep these in mind. Some are pretty obvious, like having someone with you to help or knowing your own strength. With a motorcycle weighing a few hundred kilos, possibly still hot from the ride, you need to know what you're doing.
The first condition is that you have a central stand with a maximum width of 44 cm including the pedal or extension rod that you stand on to lift the bike when parking it.
Park the bike with the centre stand on the parking aid. Then push the pedal on the parking aid down, and the parking aid will raise itself - bike and all - from the ground. Now you can move the parking aid with the bike on it in whatever direction you want.
The second condition is that the motorbike must not exceed the 400 kg weight limit of the parking aid. Most bikes weigh less than that, even with a full tank of petrol and added accessories. Still, be sure to check that this condition is met by weighing the bike somewhere, if possible. Also, and again, be careful while wrestling a 300 or 400 kg bike at a standstill in a limited space.
Attention - part 2: the ground clearance of the parking aid is approximately one centimetre. This clearance is needed for the aid's pedal usage. This limited clearance has the advantage that lifting the bike onto the centre stand does not become substantially harder. After lifting the parking aid with its pedal, the total ground clearance is 2 cm. It is essential to use the parking aid on a level surface, to keep the swivel wheels from getting stuck in joints or other uneven areas while manoeuvring your motorcycle.
